Be – быть, находиться

Глагол be – самый распространенный глагол в английском языке. Это – глагол-связка. Чаще всего он не переводится на русский язык. Глагол be означает «быть, находиться». С его помощью мы можем сказать, кем и каким является кто-либо и что- либо. С помощью этого глагола можно сказать, кого как зовут, указать возраст, рассказать о самочувствии, сообщить адрес, номер телефона, цвет, размер, состояние погоды, сказать, чья это вещь, что где находится и многое другое.

Глагол  be имеет 3 формы: am, is, are. Употребляются они в зависимости от лица и числа подлежащего:

We/you/they are

I am a pupil. – Я ученик.

I am 8.- Мне 8 лет

I am a Russian pupil. – Я русский.

I am at school. -  Я в школе.

He is a pupil. – Он ученик.

He is 8.- Ему 8 лет.

He is a Russian pupil. – Он русский.

He is at school. -  Он в школе.

-          I am strong. I am fat. I am beautiful. I am clever. I am brave.

-          You are strong. – Yes, I am. And you are fat. – Yes, I am. She is beautiful. – Yes, she is.

-          He is brave, and he is clever. – No, I am clever, I am clever.
